Fall Favorite: Burberry. @ 11:30 PM

My current fashion crush? Burberry.

These photos are of Milan Fashion Week 2009, where Burberry Prorsum rolled out their fall collection for this year. They obviously just now took my notice (as did the admittedly gorgeous photos of Emma Watson in every fashion magazine printed since this time last year) and I'm starting to see just how nice their articles are.

The Upside: Burberry has a sort of knack for creating articles (and fragrances - I'll get to that soon) that look timeless (at least from the imperfect glance of the present moment), classic, and feminine...and most of all...always very sophisticated without ever being ostentatious. Classy. Very classy.

The Downside: Maybe it was just the stress of Milan Fashion Week and the strain on the poor models, but I know in at least some of the photos from said Fashion Week, certain pieces from Burberry Prorsum's fall 2009 collection looked....awkward. Maybe it was that the shoes weren't understated enough for the rest of the outfit, or that a trench or jacket looked too big in the shoulders. Bulky, awkward in some cases. But that's like two out of every ten pieces. The rest
of their collection looked pretty smooth. (I didn't feature any of the bad pictures.)

My verdict: I'd easily drop ten thousand dollars on Burberry and Burberry Prorsum's articles every year or two. Their classy and sophisticated sensibility strikes a chord with me.

And of course, predictably for me, I have to touch on fragrances. Anna and I both have fallen into a certain infatuation with Burberry Brit. Anna loves amber, so it's not surprising to detect amber and vanilla notes at the base, and I must be attracted to the white peony in the middle and the icy pear at the top. Burberry makes a line of perfumes for both sexes, and I honestly love them all (except plain old Burberry for women...just a little too heavy). That's rare for me...to like almost all the fragrances from one designer. They're doing something right, apparently. They really are my kind of designer.

Flu. @ 8:56 PM

It seems my case of the flu is in retreat.

It cost me three days of work, four nights of decent sleep, one long movie (Gods and Generals - I'd only suggest it if you're a hardcore Civil War enthusiast...or someone that likes Hallmark-style movies...or Christian sermons. I've seen worse movies, though.), three or four hot cups of cider, two cups of somewhat sub-par hot tea, and an awesome chocolate milkshake Anna made me. My recovery and wellness prescription for the next few days includes Lord of the Rings Online (and playing with Anna within a week or so) and some hopefully decently cute new outfits to wear to work. I'm going to call and see if I can go in tomorrow and make up my lost days, so I can at recoup at least some of the money I lost, and hopefully avoid being completely swamped by work on Friday.

In other news, Anna and I performed surgery on our laptops yesterday. Before, one had a broken display and the other had a broken power unit...and now we've taken the hard drive and display out of *mine* and put it in *hers* so now we've got a working laptop. After this week, we should have a working internet thingy for her desktop, so we'll be able to play MMO's again together. Yay!

I got a nicely-priced skirt on ebay recently that Anna called "not flattering". I'll post a picture soon and you can tell me what you think...
