American Hi-Fithoughtful
Here's my purse.
I must say that I am completely in love with it. I do adore this bag, and I think I wouldn't buy anything but Louis Vuitton if I was seriously shopping for anything leather/bag related. But on the contemplation of starting fall quarter this year, I've fallen back on some of what my parents taught me about class (my parents might have leaned toward styles I consider deplorable, but they always looked put together - they did teach me a lot about class for all their horrible faults.) I think too much LV in one place, or too much Prada or Chanel at a time might seem tacky. I'm me, and no matter how much I might love a particular fashion house, I don't want to be a walking ad for them. Decorum would require me to remain a bit more understated.
Thinking about how busy college is and how rough I am with some of my stuff (I don't want to get lots of wear and tear on a really awesome piece), I have decided to buy a decently cheap messenger bag from somewhere. I'm thinking maybe somewhere I wouldn't normally shop. I want something plain that won't fall apart, and let's face it, going to Target or Old Navy is as bad as sewing one myself by hand with the cheapest materials imaginable. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Target or ON, no matter how much you might trick yourself into believing that they can be fashionable, is as bad as buying your stuff at Forever 21. Does it look bad? No! Does it fall into pieces when you use or wear it? Yes!
(A quick trip around the internet has shown the author that most things, in fact, *are* ugly and that a decently cute bag from Target will suffice for her everyday going to class needs. If it breaks, it can be replaced fairly cheaply.)
My bathing suit (Abercrombie). I'm hoping I get to swim this year so I can actually make use of it. One reason I love A&F's stuff so much is that it's so soft and comfy. I love this bathing suit.
My laptop. I decided to go with a MacBook Air for class because I got really sick of lugging around a really heavy laptop on all our coffee shop excursions. I know, I know. You can't upgrade it, blah, blah, blah. But it's just for class, it's tiny, and it's cute. If I need power, that's what my desktop at home is for.
My phone. I was gonna go with just a regular phone (becuase I carry my iPod separately) but Anna convinced me of the logic of having a smartphone. There's a lot of things I can't find, and being able to whip out my phone and use google or whatever is a big help. (as opposed to pulling out above said huge, clunking laptop in the past and having to find internet somewhere.) Plus, being able to play Myst or something if we got stuck on a restaurant waiting list would be really fun.
